Our Fees
At Sunflower Therapy, our fee is $215 for a standard 50-minute therapy session (the recommended rate by the Australian Psychological Society is $311). Our fees are significantly lower than the recommended APS rate to provide affordable psychological services for individuals in need.
Payment is taken at the start of your appointment so that you can focus your entire appointment on treatment. Credit card details will be requested from you at the time of making your first appointment. These details are securely stored in our practice management software Zanda (formerly Power Diary).
Rebates
Medicare
You don't need a referral to engage in our service, but you may be eligible for a rebate of $96.65 through Medicare if your GP, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist refers you under a Mental Health Care Plan. Speak to your Doctor to obtain a referral.

We offer services to clients with a self-managed plan. An invoice will be provided following each session which the client can use to make their claim.

Please note we are not a registered NDIS provider.

Private Health
Depending on your level of cover and inclusions, you may be eligible for a rebate through your private heath fund. You may need to seek further information from your fund to ascertain what you are eligible to claim.

Assessments
All assessments undergo the same process, which includes: an initial appointment to gather relevant information and ascertain which assessment/s is/are suitable, administering the assessment/s, and finally a report feedback session 3 weeks following the completion of the final assessment to discuss the outcome of the assessment.

-
Initial session (50 minutes): $235
-
Assessment fees vary depending on the type of assessment(s) required. Generally, assessments are charged based on the cost of materials, hours required to administer the assessment/s, interpret the results and write the report and are charged at $215/hour. View our assessment costs here. Please note these prices exclude the initial session and report feedback session fees.
-
Report feedback session (up to 50 minutes): $215

Letters/Forms
Summary/support letters and completion of forms are charged at $215/hour (maximum 2 hours).
Cancellations
A minimum of 2 business days notice is required to cancel your appointment. Cancelled appointments are not eligible for a Medicare rebate.
Our cancellation fees are as follows:
-
Same day cancellation/missed session: 100% of the full session fee
-
1 business day before session: 50% of the full session fee
-
2 business days notice: no cancellation fee

For example, please cancel your Monday appointment by the previous Thursday to avoid any fees. If you cancel your Monday appointment on the previous Friday or over the weekend, this does not allow us sufficient business hours to offer the vacant slot to another client on our waiting list.

We understand life can be unpredictable and sometimes things come up on short notice which may prevent you from being able to attend your scheduled session! However, late cancellations and failure to attend impact on your progress in therapy, as well as other clients who may have benefited from that session of therapy. Cancellation fees are charged as we are generally unable to fill your allocated time-slot on such short notice, and to cover the Psychologist's time spent preparing for your session prior to the session.
Frequent cancellations or rescheduling may mean this is not the right time for you to be able to commit to therapy and we will then suggest seizing therapy and returning at a better time.
